What type of fuel level sensor is this?

I'm doing some maintenance on an RV-6A that was built in 1997. Looking at the fuel tanks, there are the standard fuel float type resistive senders and also this gizmo. Two wires coming out of the tank, but they are not connected to anything. Anyone know what kind of sensor this is? I'm assuming it is some type of capacitive fuel level sensor.

The same tank also has a resistive sender.

ACS pt# 6905-400 float switch for low fuel indicator light.
I also used this type switch in a smoke tank & a water/meth tank on another plane.

My guess would be a low level warning sensor as Ralph suggests.

And while you're at it, I would replace the nut on the resistive fuel level sensor with a shear nut so you will have threads showing beyond the locking feature of the nut.
