Flew .5 Saturday morning around the patch. Bumpy below 2,200’. Included pic showing 53 kts nearly on the nose, FMS mode tracking back to 52F with the FPV nearly off screen stage left. LOL.
Luv that RV.

The highlight was hanging out with 86yrs young Kay F. after he went and flew acro in his 8A (as he does nearly daily). My role model!!!! I did some acro myself just because I knew he was 15 miles away doing the same thing <g>.

Hope you’re having a nice weekend.

Considering the wind, I'm shocked it looked this good.

Colorado commute
We have a nice (2) month project in the eastern part of Colorado, so have been doing the commute to/from the beach. Stopping off in Delta for fuel and keeping the plane at the Colorado Space Port. Great service there!

Ahhh, winter flying in the mountains. So beautiful a route.
Oh yeah, bring a hammer and pick to remove the ice in the tie-downs. :)

No pics but got some cross wind practice. My max crosswind limit is 20kts. Landed in 22kts but was completely out of rudder and drifted all the way across our 50’ runway. Took all of my skill.
Fun and a bit hairy at the same time.

Operation Callisto - deliver my daughter’s dog from Va Bch to Boston on 22-23 Jan. Day 1 - 4TN3 to KORF to KOWD. Day 2 - KOWD to KFRR to KLOZ to 4TN3. It was cold, very cold. The lowest temp I saw in flight was -17C. Shout out to Boston Executive at KOWD. Top notch FBO with reasonable overnight hangar prices. Thank you!

I removed my rear seat and made a wooden platform to clear the flap torque tube. I then made a dog bed and used tubular nylon straps to secure her leash in the baggage area. Worked great and the trip was a frozen success.

The things we do for our kids.

Callisto ready to go. Once we took off she laid down for the entire flight.

We have gone over 60 days here in Sedona without rain. Some rain/snow mix forecast for several days of this coming week. Been cold also, at least for us, lows each morning in the mid 20's. Went up to the airport to do some work in the hangar and the winds were calm, contrary to forecast. Took the RV6 up for an hour.
What looks like an overcast in the picture below is a smoke layer at 8000' from a controlled burn southwest of Flagstaff. Nice and smooth and a pretty darn good 3 point landing.

Planned Lake Havasu for lunch. Turned back half way due to higher than forecasted winds aloft and deteriorating weather at home.

Vlad your are a VAF Treasure! I so regret missing to opportunity to meet you at Moontown (3M5) a few years ago. If you come to Florida, stop into Keystone Heights (42J) (cheap fuel! and a place to stay). We're in the mid 70's this week.

The usual suspects were called to a lunch meeting at a BBQ joint in Hickory NC.

311 NM for BBQ? Sure, why not. Haven't been out of state since PJ.

100 mile vis and not a ripple anywhere. Averaged 22.7 MPG at 213 knots GS, which was nice...but of course it became 153 going home.
