FF-01414 X-over cowl close out too short

It appears that part number FF-01414 X-over cowl close out is too short. As depicted by the arrow there is a gap? EXP-119 engine and cowl. What am I missing?

Weird. You can always just glass that small section or just make a new panel to fit.

Just ran into the exact same problem. We used the existing closeout as a template and fabricated a new one about an inch longer.

Maybe a silly question, but shouldn't Van's come up with a solution so everyone doesn't have to fab a part that should "just fit"?

Same thing here. I was frustrated when I saw the gap because I could have just trimmed less of the cowling if I knew... I will put some fiberglass there as well to cover the hole.

For sure, its a bad mold line. They should at least redo the closeout panel to be longer if not fix the fiberglass line. Frustrating but hey what can you do.
