Another safety wire question

For a variety of reasons the oil filter on my O-320 is in a tight space that makes safety wiring a royal pain. Is it okay to put a hose clamp on the “can” part of the oil filter and safety wire to that? Or is this an aviation no-no? One thought I had is that you might inadvertently overtighten the clamp, somehow compromising the filter.

It’s done on Wix filters since they don’t have a tab to attach safety wires to. It’s come up before on VAF and here is a pic from SB on how to.

Perfectly acceptable. Been doing it for over 30 years!

Never lost an oil filter on any of my cars in the last 58 years. But, the hose clamp idea is real easy to apply and remove and you do not even have to cut the safety wire.
But, again as a matter of fact I never wire my filters on my I0-360. I do do the screen plug
But my luck varies FIXIT
