Wheel Intersection Fairings RV-10

Well Known Member
I believe this has been mentioned somewhere before.
I have aligned the wheel pants and gear leg fairings while the aircraft was elevated as per Van's instructions.
Now that the plane is back on the floor the hash marks on the wheel pants don't line up anymore.
Are the fairings fitted with the airplane off the ground or on the ground?
Either way some stress will be introduced upon landing or take off.

I'm positive I read this before..............regarding how.

For my 6A, it was wheel pants & leg fairings with weight off the wheels. The interesection fairings went on, with the plane on the ground....for looks.

50/50 solution

Thanks Larry

I am leaning toward fitting with the weight on the wheels.
Maybe I'll just do the left wheel with weight on it and the right one without weight on it, I'll be right on one side.

Ernst, the purpose of the fairings is to make the gear less draggy while in flight.

To do so, it needs to be aligned to the position it will seek in flight.

Thus, do it with the fuse jacked up so the wheels are flying an inch or two off the floor.

Mike,
Thank you.
That all makes sense.
I thought I read somewhere that there was more to it.
