RV News That Caught My Eye Over The Last Day or So ….dr

I'm back! Not much to report in past month or so. Just cutting and buffing paint and moving everything except fuse to the hangar. There is a LOT of real estate to cut and buff! Not much like a car.
Anyway, working on bleeding brakes which is way a lot of fun. Needed a break. So, I installed the Aircraft Specialty alternate air door. Very nice piece, as usual from these guys. Way better than the OEM door. It took a little trimming to make it fit but it works very slick.

Just to be sure, you mention 2 RV12's. I presume you are seeing this problem on only one of them, or is there a problem with both aircraft?
Is this a problem that recently developed on a previously working system, or has this always been an issue since you took delivery of the aircraft/finished the installation?
Is the VNAV message present on the GTN at all times? It is possible to see that message if the GTN were powered without the GSU 25 being powered.
Without knowing more about your configuration and wiring, you appear to have a problem with both the serial connection from the GTN to the GDU, as well as 2/3 ARINC 429 connections from the GTN to the GAD 29. In the absence of more information, it hard to say exactly what could be the cause of this. If you send us a configuration file, your wiring diagram and some pictures of your system information menu (configuration mode), we can probably help you get to the bottom of this pretty quickly. We can be reached directly at [email protected].

When retrofitting a uAvionix TailbeaconX to the rudder fairing on our -6, I found voids in the fibreglass/gelcoat interface.
I made a threaded retaining bracket to go inside the fairing, mixed up some epoxy/flox to reinforce the fairing and glue the retaining bracket in place.

(To keep it slightly Flyleds related, I’m a very happy Flyleds Taildragger Max user and eagerly waiting on Paul to produce a kit that’ll replace my old high current wingtip Whelen A600 Nav light / Strobes.)

FS: My Ford Ranger (our family spare which lives in the hangar).
If you’re looking for a small airport truck with so little modern technology that it would be a minor miracle if anyone under 30 could operative it, my 2010 Ford Ranger is for you. It would make a GREAT teenager’s first vehicle. Probably $9,100. I bought it from Dan Horton a decade ago. The a/c is terrifyingly cold. There are no more tiny trucks for sale in the USA. This is one. AM/FM and no cruise. Clean the interior with a leaf blower. The pic with the two wooden chairs is my son Tate learning how to parallel park on the Charlie taxiway <grin>. It’s time to let it go, I can’t justify the financial expense of keeping it (empty nesters).

MIlestone! Installed the canopy. I takes three people. One inside to guide the canopy release pin into the canopy hinges and two people on either side to guide the canopy into the hinges while holding it upright. So, now it's on to finishing the wings!

I am at my wits end with chasing a problem. Background...we have two newish (2021 and 2023) RV12is SLSA. Recently we lost COM and NAV display on G3XTs. We also lost GPS position on the G3XTs. Diagnostics show. Red x on RS-232 Position 1 and 5, Plus an ARINC input issue. First we ruled out...

FlyLed Tail Light Mounting Bracket Cracks Fairing
Be aware that the tail light mounting bracket (bottom of this flyled page https://flyleds.com/products/#!/Tail-Light-kit-model/p/48165109/category=0 ) four rivets that connect it to the fairing can crack the fairing. The bracket is very useful but riveting is apparently not going to work. I...
