Jsalley RE Painting Cockpit
Agree with inktomo. I painted the interior of my 12iS when the fuselage tub was pretty well completed, but before rudder pedals went on. I also prepped and painted all of the access covers, seat floors, fuel tank (uninstalled), etc. at the same time. I’ve needed to touch up a few spots, but not a lot. Working on the canopy now, and will need to paint the frame before the plexiglass is installed.

RV8 SN 82262 On the gear!
Thanks to everyone who have responded to my many questions. Today, I hoisted the fuselage and installed the gear. RV8 owner and pilot, Danny Kight, encouraged me to keep the fuselage on the ground as long as possible. So, today was a real celebration of completion of nearly everything from the...

Dimpling and Edge Rolling in Hard-to-Reach places
I'm working on the rear window and am trying to figure out how to roll the skin edge, then dimple the skin above the roll bar brace (see picture). Any ideas other than drilling out rivets to lift the skin?

Painting cockpit interior
Is it something best to be done during the build, or is it fine to do it at the end? I haven't spent time researching painting yet, but I want to confirm I can safely ignore the topic for now. I'm building with minimum priming (only where requested by the KAI).

Firewall layout
I’m putting my battery on the floor in the front baggage area of my RV-8. OP-34 shows the battery cable coming through the firewall outboard of the side vertical angle and just below the cross angle near the middle of the firewall. I’d prefer to keep all wires near the floor of the baggage area...

RV4 roll trim
The RV4 project that I acquired had servos for pitch and roll trim, but I didn’t care for the external tab mounted on the aileron for the roll. So, after having built some RV8s, I decided to build up a similar RV8 system for the 4, since I had a set of springs in my parts bin. I won’t...

Get the cap all the cool kids are wearing! I don’t get a penny. It’s around $15. $5 more if you want your N-number on the back (I put 'STAFF' on the back of mine because it makes me laugh. Put STAFF on yours too if it makes you smile). And down the road $10 to the charity of your choice...
