First flight took place this morning!

Hi Larry, I decided to go with this approach but as soon as I looked at the rear of the hole again, I realized the empty hole above goes through a tab so a double would not sit flat. I went on to extract the additional neighbor rivet and made one doubler for 3 holes and one for two, shown clecoed in the attached pictures. I matched the material thickness of the ribs which was 0.025". Thoughts?

Works fine mounted like this. There was a post 4 or 5 months ago that said he positioned his under the overhead console and it worked! I did not attempt this as I thought would have zero chance. 6 ft of 16 awg into my main bus that operates at 14.0 volts, no issues.

I’ve had another busy week tinkering with the Rocket.

Definitely some inconsistencies here between Chapter 43 and Chapter 49. Chapter 43 shows your circled location, while 49 shows where you actually installed it. I suspect Chapter 43 shows the non-EXP version. I'm not sure about Chapter 49.

RV-6A Very Slow Build, Western Australia
This post was going to be about the seat cushions but that update will be another day because today was a bit more interesting. There was a break in the weather (been raining all week) so it was fine enough to go outside and put some fire in the holes. The last time this engine ran was 32...

Brantel RV-12IS Build Thread
Yes, my emp/tailcone kit was full of LCP’s. Only two of the red category though. On the high school's RV-12iS that I mentor, they had the same four listed. Two on the parts were still in the blue and the dates showed they were okay. One was assembled and I inspected it and it, too was okay...

Propeller Governor Mounting Hardware
I PROMISE I’ve used the search function: here is my problem. No mounting hardware came with the governor. The instructions say follow the engine manufacturer. FOR THE LIFE OF ME I can’t find that in lycoming literature. Probably because they don’t support experimental like that. So I called...

A bad day in the shop a couple of months ago....
Hi all, On doing some of the final riveting on the center section horizontal stab of my RV-10 kit a couple of months ago, I made big trouble when using a double offset rivet set. I mangled manufactured head of one rivet *real* bad and made matters worse when I tried to remove the rivet as I...

Starlink mount
This mount for a Starlink Mini antenna works great in a RV-10 (without carbon fiber overhead) Objectives: 1. Position works 2. Easily hardwired for power and control (on/off) 3. Easily removed (both antenna and mount) 4. Not a hazard to occupants during turbulence 5. Not in the way of normal...

The Nearly Perfect Rocket II
I am fortunate to own one of the best examples of a Harmon Rocket II ever constructed. It won a Silver Lindy at Oshkosh in 2002 and I'm convinced it would've won Grand Champion if there was a way to show all the hidden innovation and features. The builder, David Howe, is an absolute genius. He...

EXP119 Oil Temperature Probe Location
Could someone please confirm that I have the probe in the right location and it’s NOT supposed to be at the orange circle? Bonus point if you can tell me where to safety wire it to. I’m thinking I cut the orange circle wire and wire the two in-line and through the unseen hole on the block.

Get the cap all the cool kids are wearing! I don’t get a penny. It’s around $15. $5 more if you want your N-number on the back (I put 'STAFF' on the back of mine because it makes me laugh. Put STAFF on yours too if it makes you smile). And down the road $10 to the charity of your choice...
