…oil cooler bracket crack update
I should have added to my original post that my 7 did the same thing at around 200h back in 2011.
Here’s the replacement: 1/8 angle plus an extra tie piece. I also installed a diagonal brace from the forward edge of the #4 cylinder to the inboard edge of the oil cooler mount.
My memory is stretching for this but I also seem to remember that that particular baffle piece was or should have been 6061 not 2024.

…bent stick PIREP
I did that a couple times on my RV8’s. I made a jig to hold the parts while tack welding (see pic). The opposite side of the board is similar so I could tack both sides before welding. I cut a 3” piece out of the stick on 60* angles, rotated that piece 180*, and welded it back in place. It worked well for me and cleared the seat bottom.
Then on my RV4 (later in life), I used an RV14 stick attached to the cut off RV4 stick. The RV4 stick is the same as the RV8. I had to machine down a section of 4130 tube to put inside the cut off RV4 stick because the fit was a little loose.

What is your opinion on using a brush seal in the slotted area bottom cowl? The brush seal has nylon brushes (should be good up to 250 F)

Prop slinging grease
My new Hartzell prop has been misting grease on the windscreen. I removed the spinner to clean and check the hub to see where it was coming from. Blades were clean and upon closer inspection one of the zerks was the culprit. Talked with Hartzell and they are sending me new replacements...

Welded Stick - RV8
I need to bring my grip back about 2" and add 3" in height to get it a comfortable position AND while doing this, clear the panel. I'm making a mockup of what I think will do it but looking to see if anyone who has done this has measurements.

Baffle Mod
I went with a mini-duct per a later DanH post ..it was easy to make and gives more cross sectional area for the air to get through. YMMV, but my #3 has no cooling issues. I did a similar thing on the front of #2, tucked behind the IO-360 snorkel. The only cooling mod I had to do after...
