RV-15 WIKI

I just wanted to <SNIP> give this resource another boost. I see that someone has been making good entries and this could end up being helpful to people getting started, especially under the earlier kit and KAI versions.

I was going to drop the tip about holding off on the snap bushings and tube fittings on the nose ribs. Good work to whoever beat me to it!

I have created an account for the WIKI site but so far when I attempt to add a comment I cannot find how to do so. Any attempt to add anything results in a message: “You do not have permission to contribute to this page”. Any help would be appreciated.

I've been trying to put stuff on there as I go, and try to check the list before I start sections to see if anyone has any tips.

I have not been able to figure out how to add pictures?

Can we get a Section 3 and Section 5 added to the wiki? I’m not sure how to do it. Thanks.

Section 5 has been added.

I do not have a Section 3 in my plans list. Please let me know the Number and Title of any Sections that are missing and I will add them to the wiki.

I have the QB tanks so I am likely missing some sections...

Bob, appreciate you staying on top of this.

There is a lot of good info on the wiki, and it will only get better as we all contribute to it.

In the RV-10 wiki it's listed as "Section 3: Tools and Workspace"

I agree!
I was able to refer to the Wiki to confirm that I can use an LP4-3 instead of an aileron skin to rivet the skins onto the aileron ribs....

I've been noticing the recent additions by AndreSky on the Wiki page and just wanted to say great job!
Thank you Steve!

Hello all! Long time reader, first time poster, first time builder!

I have been watching the forums for a while now and so very much appreciate this community and everyone's posts. My 15-0183 wing kit (delayed) and empennage kit (ahead of schedule) got shipped together and both arrive on Tuesday!

For the past month Claude (AI) and I have been doing a deep dive on the RV-15 VAF forum and builder logs. I have been methodically updating the RV-15 wiki with all the tips and modifications I found — trying to keep the forum posts and threads straight was beyond my capability to do manually. I based the wiki page format off the RV-10 wiki. Side note: I (aka Claude) have not been able to review the EAA builder logs yet, I got my IP address restricted seeming like I was a bot, but that is next on the list.

As I start my build I will go back and reconfirm all the posts and exact page references, but if any of those who have gone before can do a quick review of the sections, I know all of us future builders would really appreciate it!

Special thanks to the builders whose logs, posts, and comments I pulled from most heavily:

Forum: catmandu, MCA (Marc), Louise Hose, flymore, Nuisance (John), Frog Hobson, Carlos151, johnvanbladeren, AlphaAlpha, TShort, 543TB, N8DAV8R (If I missed anyone, I blame the AI)

YouTube: BackcountryRV-15, Average Joe's Airspeed Acres, Rivet Therapy

If you have not watched some of Rivet Therapy’s ASMR videos, you need to, they are fantastic. I think that is how I am going to be able to sell my 12 year old into helping.

Thanks to all of the builders that went first and figured it out — you all have some amazing looking builds!

Joe

Great job Joe. Now if only Van's would hire you to gather all this and update the KAI's, then we'd really be rolling... Until then, my workflow will include printing out the latest wiki pages for each section prior to assembly. Sometimes I make notes directly in the KAI's and do my own updating. I watched some of Rivet Therapy's stuff; so visually satisfying.

Please check your main wing spars for hole misalignment at the doubler around the strut attach point! There are 51 holes here that get reamed and if you don’t do a visual check prior to assembly and clecoing of the wing skins - you might not see the issue that may be occurring.

I’m just trying to get the word out as I have no idea if Van’s has contacted any of the later wing kit owners about this issue. Several reports now of hole misalignment, so I’m not the only one to have seen this problem.
