Replacing wingwalk - trick found

AN23

Started to replace the ugly wingwalk on a friend's RV-8 today. Gentle heat helped get it started off then, vice grips and a steady pull just behind the heat gun made easy work of getting the old one off. The residual glue, that's another story. Tried Goo-Gone and it would kind of slime up the top of the glue but really wasn't taking it off. I then remembered that I had bought a package of plastic "razor" scraper blades so I sprayed on the Goo-Gone, let it sit for 10 minutes or so and then used one of the blades to try to get under the glue. It worked like a charm. I worked about a third of the total area at a time and within an hour, I had it all off without any sweat or paint scratches.
