Importing RV kit from Canada to USA

I’m thinking of buying a RV-14 kit from a guy in Canada. Just a fuselage, no engine or prop. It’s fairly complete. I plan to load it in a U-Haul and drive it across the border and back to Nevada. Does anyone know what duties or taxes I may have to pay to get it out of Canada?

Get the original import paperwork (from US to Canada) and use the same HTS codes, show the country of origin as the US since it was manufactured here. That might help holding down duties and taxes. That said, I really have no idea how CBP would treat this, but showing them the paper trail into Canada can't hurt.

AFAIK you won't face any duties, fees, tariffs, etc if you have the proper paperwork which states the kit originated from the United States. Without it, expect 25%.

There are no Duties on Aviation Parts as per the Free Trade Agreement between the two countries.. Taxes only

The Customs code used is 8807300010 ( In Canada at least ) might be a different code in the US.

Good luck with the sale..
