Garmin SL30 taking commands from GRT 10.1 HXr

I have my Garmin SL 30 set to cereal in the settings and my baud rate on the serial port set to 9600 on the GRT. The frequencies that I tune on the radio itself show up on the GRT but the GRT will not send commands to change the frequency on the SL 30. I have exhausted everything I can find and nothing seems to work. Does anyone have any ideas or experience on this?

This is pretty trivial, but do you have a second RS232 out line from your efis going to the rs232-in port on the SL30? Some people (me) never bothered hooking it up.

This used to work as advertised many years ago, BUT(!!!), it seems that something caused it to not work.

I have had various combinations of GRT + Garmin SL30/40's. I noticed a while back that I could not send the list nor the frequency although I could receive them with my 10.1/SL30 combinations.

A note to GRT is in order. I had not bothered because I found that I never really used it.

Finally, it **MAY** be a wiri g or configuration mistake that you and I have made. 😁😁

+1

On the grt, there are unique config settings for both the rx and tx pin. Are you sure you set up both?

I have checked the wiring multiple times. I have the SL30 in serial mode. I have followed all of the GRT protocols in the installation. Thanks for the info. At least I am not the only one.
