G3X Touch Garmin RPM Configuration

I'm New Here
Hello,

Our builder group was looking to modify the RPM band color ranges on the G3X in configuration mode. Our idea was to change the yellow band MINIMUM to show between 1,800 RPM and 2,200 RPM that way our members know to keep the gearbox happy during taxi operations. The red band would be anything below 1,800 RPM. Out of the box, the RPM range has no minimum band colors outside of the green range. The caution and red tape only show up in the max ranges.

We have been talking to Garmin support because we noticed the RPM 1 field is locked in configuration mode by Van's. They are easy to unlock but it forces you to delete the default numbers in RPM 1. Has anyone here successfully edited these numbers?

The G3X configuration file provided by Vans uses some custom options to change the RPM gauge markings based on oil temperature, which is why it's not user-editable. You can easily reproduce the same behavior using the on-screen configuration, following the example in Appendix I, section I.2 of the current G3X installation manual (revision AZ). Of course you'll want to know the various numbers Vans specifies before you delete their custom configuration using the "Delete Input Configuration" menu option.

Yes, those numbers are top secret and Van's will not release them. If Garmin cannot get the info from the configuration file I sent them then I will just abandon the project. We'll see.
