EAA chapter 27
Thanks to everyone for taking the time to respond to the recent survey. About 45 responses were received, and they were very interesting. We are going to discuss them fully at a membership meeting in February, BUT some things are clear and obvious now. People would prefer meetings on a weekday evening, there is a very strong interest in amateur built aircraft topics, and most people would enjoy a presentation at chapter meetings.
A committee has been formed to plan some meetings, and we are really pleased to be able to invite you to the first two
On Wednesday February 17th at 7:30 p.m., we will meet at Airspace Place at the Delaware airport. (Entry to the facility and parking is being arranged.)
There will be a presentation by a chapter member, followed by a discussion of the survey results and no doubt some discussion about the direction the chapter is taking.
The subject of the presentation will be: Advancements aviation technology during World War I.
It's a fascinating subject. Aviation made huge strides during the ?Great War.? In 4 years, we went from a rickety collection of sticks and wires to an armed and armored fighting machine structurally similar to aircraft in production today. The story of how those changes came about is fascinating and often really surprising. The story of the rotary engine alone would fill a book.
Please plan to attend and support the effort that is being put into EAA Chapter 27. If you can, would you please click this link to RSVP? That way we will have an idea of how many people to expect (and accommodate.)

Note that this member meeting does not replace the regular Saturday morning meeting. That will go ahead too.
THEN (yes, there?s more) on Wednesday March 16th, inspector John Welch from the Columbus FSDO will deliver a talk on Experimental (Amateur Built) aircraft certification. John is a great speaker and among other things, he will include some instructive pictures to help explain his material and will go over the new guidance in FAA Order 8130-2h (which has changed significantly). He will finish up with a discussion about how to work with the Columbus FSDO. A separate invitation will be sent for that meeting in a couple of weeks.
