G3X Fuel Quantity Indicator errors

This doesn't affect the RV-12.

Only G3X installs in certificated aircraft are affected. In those cases, a 1K ohm resistor is inline with the fuel level sensor. This is to provide lightning protection (FAR 23.954).

Temperature apparently affects that resistor enough to show variations on the fuel level display. The AD doesn't seem to describe the fix, but I assume it will be to replace the fuel level sender with a newer version of it... (using a resistor that is more tolerant to temperature change).

This only applies to aircraft in which a G3X Touch was installed per the STC documentation.

It would be very helpfull for all of us to read the service documentation in order to understand how to solve the issue when a series resistor is installed. Can you provide this info ? Regards,
 
About 6 months ago my GEA24 began giving me CAS error messages that Garmin recommended me to replace under warrantee. They said that the unit was slightly outside the warrantee period but agreed to send me a new one and I could send this one back. So far so good. Replaced my unit with a GEA24B. After reviewing readings noticed my fuel gages were reading about 12 gals fuller (total) than my remaining fuel in my total totalizer which before was always very accurate. Thought maybe my totalizer had become off but hand sticking showed it was the fuel qty gauges. Talked to Garmin support and they assured me that the GEA could not affect this and maybe I messed up the calibration which I checked to insure it was the same as before and it was. (I saved the config file). Of course then thought my gages had gone bad but both and to the same out of calibration? Re calibrated the gauges and to date have worked perfectly. This morning quite by accident I found this (below check the note about adding a resister) First I have seen this documented. Could a GEA24B that replaced a GEA24 cause the issue? I’m documenting this so if anyone else needs to replace their GEA24 check your fuel quantities.
