1/8” gap between the elevator fairing and stab fairing

I am currently working on the elevator and stab fairings on my RV10. The plans call for a minimum gap of 1/8” between the two. I had a little over that but when I attached them after closing off the stab fairings I had lost my gap and am now spending a lot of time trying to regain that gap. I think it would have been better to allow a minimum clearance of a 1/4” gap. It would have saved me a lot of work.

Van's can't guess how each builder will execute a build step..... so they use the word "minimum" and expect you to follow it as you build.
