Passenger Warning Placard

Passenger Warning-This aircraft is amateur-built and does not comply with the federal safety regulations for standard aircraft?

I'm trying to keep room on my instrument panel for the passenger warning placard but was wondering how other builders of side by side RV's have complied with this requirement. Is there any wiggle room or have the DAR's required that it be on the instrument panel directly in front of the passenger?

Mine is on the right side of the panel. Full view but definitely not "in the center".

I had mine done at the sticker shop with 3/32nd letters. saved a bit of room.

On my RV4, the DAR told me the warning had to be visible to the passenger and not necessarily to the pilot. After all it is a "passenger" warning, right?

So, I put the placard on the inside of the canopy skirt, left side rear seat. With the RV4's tip-over canopy, the placard wasn't visible unless you were sitting in the back seat with the canopy closed. Perfect. My DAR thought that was just fine.

I didn't want the warning on the panel for several reasons and it's more easily seen by the passenger if its somewhere in the back anyway.

This might not satisfy every DAR out there, but it worked for me.

I don't remember who's plane I saw it on, but he had it on the inside of the glove box door. Told the DAR he always has the box door open before flight so the passenger sees in when they get it. He got it signed off that way.

Size of passenger warning placard?

Does anyone know where I can find what the size requirement is for the passenger warning? Is there a particular length and width or necessary font size? I don't see a reference to size in this document.

Thanks.

Pax Warning Placard

It must be large enough to be easily read. It must be visible to anyone entering the airplane. Mine is on the bottom of the glare shield. (Tip-Up). Not visible with the canopy closed. Not sure I would buy it on the inside of the glove box.

Great White North -> readily legible from each passenger station, or displayed on side of fusalage and readily legible to persons entering aircraft.

With sliding canopy many of us are putting the warning label on outside of the track rails, readily visible to anyone entering aircraft, not visible to anyone when canopy is closed. Minimum size on side of aircraft, 3/8" letters.
