Hi folks:
I have a panel mounted Garmin Aera 796. It has been a great GPS unit for VFR flying and I've held back from upgrading.
The drawback is that it seems impossible to update the maps without taking it off the aircraft and plugging it into a PC. Is there any way to load the maps on a SD card at home and update it in the field? Thank you and apologies if this is the wrong forum for this question.
Unfortunately, our tools do require that you connect your portable to a computer in order to perform database updates.
