Post photos of your favorite flying destinations! I have to say, Sunriver Oregon is one of our most favorite RV flying destinations.

My wife (also pilot) and I have been flying to Sunriver Oregon for many years from our home airport (KPAE) Paine Field WA.

All of your "favorite destinations" are my to-do list, just haven't done them yet. Sunriver isn't that far for me, just haven't flown there yet. We've driven and stayed there, or in Bend, too many times to count! We've also driven to Tahoe quite a few times - I love that area.

Thanks for sharing.

Beautiful pics! But, they just remind me of how mind numbingly boring it can be flying around Texas after a few thousand hours.

A few of my favorites are; Telluride, Johnson Creek, Eastport ME, Catalina Island, Santa Paula, the San Juan Islands... or for that matter the entire US west coast! The NYC Hudson tour was also pretty cool...

Given your location (Beaverton Oregon from your VAF profile), it's a simple matter of flying up the beautiful Columbia River Gorge to the Dalles, then turning south and fly over Madras, Redmond, Bend and then to Sunriver, which is a very nice airport with wonderful people running it! They can have a car waiting for you, and they also have AV fuel. It's a high-density airport that sits just east of the Cascade mountains, so it can get a bit bumpy at times -- recommend departure in the AM hours. From there, it's a nice hop over to South Lake Tahoe via Truckee or via the Carson City route. We used Reno Approach as we worked though the Reno area. Some very nice flat dry lakebeds in-route, too. The RV-9er performs really well in both areas, but leaning before takeoff is generally a good idea. And, the super wide Columbia River Gorge makes it easer to get back home if there's an overcast over sitting on top of the Cascades, while still having enough clearance for safe passage though the gorge. ADS-B weather and traffic is also a wonderful innovation for looking ahead.
