I hope I have placed this in the correct forum....
We (Rick and Keith - a couple of Wisconsin cheese heads) are planning another bucket list trip out west to the most western airport in the continental U.S. (KUIL). I fly a RV4 and Keith flies a Tailwind. Our route is loosely based on departing - KLSE/36WI (Lacrosse WI)---- 8D3 (Sisseton SD)----20U (Beach ND)----KCII (Choteau MT)----KCOE (Coeur D'Alene ID)---S31 (Lopez Island, WA)---KUIL (Quillayute WA)- ---KMMV (McMinnville OR)---- KUAO (Aurora OR)- ---4S2 (Hood River OR)----5S6 (Cape Blanco/Sixes OR)---- additional fuel stops----- KLMO (Longmont CO)----- KLSE (La Crosse). We are thinking S31 (Lopez Island) will make a good camping base to make a few day trips. Planning to stop at the Spruce Goose Museum, WAAM Museum, Tillamook Blimp hangar, Van’s factory. We are looking for local knowledge of other places to stop and visit along the way as well as places to airport camp or airports with lodging nearby. We are planning as soon as the end of June or as late as mid-August. Our schedule and stops can be adjusted as needed since we are both retired. Appreciate any and all suggestions and local info.
