Hopefully an easy question. When I look at the update for the GTN650/750 (non-Xi), it gives all the instructions on creating the SD card but it doesn't say what you do after that. Do you just insert it into the GTN, power it on and the update will start?

Basically yes. After power up the system will go into config mode. A list of the updates will appear . Select what you want to update so that it has a green checkmark and then select update.
