Just a quick shout out to Mark from Garmin Technical Support. I called the number on the website and after a couple of touch tones to get to experimental G3x support, I had a live human on the phone in just a couple of rings.

I have all of my G3x wired up and after a bit of troubleshooting (with some help from VAF), I finally had everything working except my GTX45R transponder. The systems page on the configuration menu simply gives a Transponder Fail warning. I had already double checked every pin and I was honestly getting frustrated with it. I had been in and out of these connectors so many times already - it just had to be something else. I don't have my GPS source installed yet, and had almost concluded that must be it. I figured I'd try calling Garmin before I gave up.

Mark was very knowledgeable on the system and knew immediately that the error was not due to the lack of GPS and could only be related to the RS-232 connection to the GSU25. Mark's confidence in his diagnosis gave me the will power to get back into the panel and triple check the pins one more time focused on the GSU to GTX connection. Sure enough the TX and RX pins were switched on the GSU. Put it all back together and fired it up - Transponder is Alive!

Thanks Mark. And thanks Garmin for giving me the support that the haters said I wouldn't get from you.

In my experiences, Garmin customer support has been fantastic. Most recently working with me through some issues setting up a GTX345DR a couple weeks ago. Very impressed with their breadth of knowledge and willingness to help and follow up.

Garmin G3X experimental aviation tech support is top notch! I am very satisfied with their knowledge and assistance each time I have needed help.
