Central High School - A Busy Week At The Airport - 1-PPL & 2-SOLO
Wisconsin has been filled with more than just good flying weather. It’s also been filed with Central High School’s Eagle's Nest students flying their student-built RV-12, Falcon-2.
Anthony Medina kept Falcon-2 busy much of the time preparing for his Private Pilot check ride and between Anthony’s flights, student pilots Tyler Schoolcraft and Austin Dustin kept Falcon-2 in the air training for their first Solo flight.
(1) Anthony received his Private Pilot License after dealing with some curve balls on the days leading up to his exam; the examiner cancelled his check ride just minutes before Anthony’s departure to a familiar nearby airport where he was to take the exam and two days later just before heading to the airport, Anthony received another text from the examiner instructing him to meet at a different (unfamiliar) airport. Anthony’s training and professional attitude was vividly apparent; “no problem”… he changed his flight plan on the fly and then passed his PPL check ride with flying colors. Anthony is 11th student at Central HS to receive a PPL while participating in the Eagle’s Nest Projects student-build program.

(2) Student pilots Tyler Schoolcraft and Austin Dustin were also busy filling the skies training for their first solo flight in Falcon-2. Certified by their CFI’s to be “qualified for solo flight”, Tyler and Austin both lost the comfort of their flight instructors and on consecutive days took Falcon-2 into the skies on their first solo flight. Both performed three takeoff and landing while Mr. Lund, CFI and Mr. Furgustion, CFI supervised from the runway. It was a very busy week at Burlington Municipal Airport (KBUU).
