Question on Installing Adjacent Rivets

MJarreau

Well Known Member
I have 3 installed rivets in close proximity to a hole in which I need an identical rivet. Is there any issue with resting the bucking bar on the tails of the 3 installed rivets while bucking the 4th rivet? That is, if I drive the 4th rivet this way, will it have a significantly negative impact on the existing rivets?

(Is there anything about building which is not intimidating?)

TIA,
Mike

I assume you can't get to the rivet with a squeezer?

But it shouldn't be a problem with a bucking bar because the tail of the unset rivet will extend beyond those of the other set rivets to contact the bucking bar. If the part does get a bit deformed, you can tap it back from the shop head side.
