F1 EVO fuel gauge inop

The fuel gauges in my F1 do not work so I fly by fuel consumption on my GRT display. There is a note in the builder log that they will not work due to wing design. Just wondering if any other EVO wing guys have theirs functional? Not critical as I monitor it a few different ways but it would be nice to have them function. I have SN 175 early build in 2006

INOP?

Are the gages both INOP? The floats will read full until the fuel drops to ~16 gal or so - due to the long tanks.

My gauges work as Mark described. Stay on "F" a long time but eventually drop after the fuel quantity is below about 16 gallons.

My 10 does the same thing, I think that's just the nature of those floats. My red cube is pretty accurate though.

As F1Boss said the geometry of the wings and the length of the tank prevent the float from moving until there are 16 gallons left. With a capacitive level sensor and two plates positioned appropriately it is possible to have a correct indication from full to empty, the obtainable precision is in the range of 1/4. The photographs are explanatory.
The major drawback of the electronic sensor is the reading error when using fuel containing alcohol that has absorbed humidity.
