My First Grin

Hello, my name is Boozer (government name is Craig Boozer) and I got my first grin about 5 weeks ago in a friends 2003 Cirrus SR20. So with that being said I started my search for a Van's RV6 right hear on the VAF site. A couple weeks later I purchased I my first plane, a 1997 Van's RV-6A with 88.4 TTHR from (FLYBUMTOO). A few days later I took the 4 hour drive to central California and we removed the wings and loaded it on my trailer to transport back to Corona Ca airport. Now wait for it.................. I have not even started the journey of getting my Private Pilot Cert. My thought was I will buy the plane first then get my pilot cert so I can start flying right after I get the cert so I do not have to rent while searching for a plane. Cannot wait for my first grin in my Van's RV-6A. Thank you, Boozer
PS: I'm taking this time do several upgrades like glass panel, A/P, Engine cleanup, and new custom paint.

You can do it!

If it helps your worries about flight training, a young man based here at my home airport with only a few hours off PPl training in a Cessna, purchased a -6A that was locally for sale. He has done virtually all his flight training in it with a local instructor, and I'm not sure who is having more fun, the student/owner or the CFI. Its an honest airplane and you will have a blast learning in it.

Congrats on the new purchase. I too purchased a plane for training, unfortunately it wasn't a RV. Although I enjoyed owning and learning in my own aircraft not long after I completed my PPL I was ready for something a bit faster. I purchased my RV-6A a few weeks ago and can tell you it would have been a much more enjoyable time had I done it initially (not saying I didnt enjoy the slower moving less nimble CTSW, it was great to me, logged 300 hrs in 2 years). Initially I had a false fear of the RV being too fast to learn in. Boy was I wrong, yes they are fast, but they can fly slowly as well and are VERY stable learning platforms. Pull the power back, fly at 110 KTS and enjoy the learning experience sipping on fuel.

Good luck to you Boozer, it's going to be a very rewarding journey for you. Welcome to the RV family!
