Ok, I’ve guessed wrong twice on two orders for a new one of these fittings. It threads into a UMA mechanical fuel gauge. Local FBO’s don’t have one.

Can anyone tell from these pics what this fitting number is?

I called. They only have steel fittings.

I might go by in person to see if they can at least ID the thing. Thought I’d try here, first.

1/8th NPT to either a -3AN or -4AN. Its hard to tell based on a wooden ruler, but I would lean towards the -3AN. The -3AN will have a thread diameter of 0.375" and the -4AN will have a thread diameter of 0.43 on the flanged side. The FBO won't have one, but your local automotive speed shop will.

I don't recommend or support any of the links, they're for information only. Please buy only aircraft grade hardware if your level of risk tolerance requires that.

Looks good...thx much

Fitting

The OP is showing a D fitting-aluminum AN2D, 3D and 4D are all 1/8 pipe thread. Tube outside diameter respectively is 1/8" 3/16" and 1/4 3D would be the most common for small instruments.

The AN-822 spec was updated to MS20822 a while back. For the -4 size, there is also a -4-4...which gives you a -4 tube end and a -4 pipe end.

You can download the spec at Everyspec.com

Free catalog,

For future reference on a lot of products, send for a free Aircraft Spruce catalog.:)
I had the same problem with AN fittings till I found a reference chart in the fitting section of their catalog with actual size drawings of all the AN fittings and it eliminates guessing. Helped me anyway. :) After a while figuring their size becomes second nature. ;)

Well I'll be...

Didn't even know that was in the catalog. I've got one of them in a drawer at my hangar.

Thx much!
