Riveting the left Bottom Outboard Wing Skin

Finally getting around to buttoning up the fast-build wings.
Page 20-04 has basic instructions, but I have one complication: A Gretz Mount for the GAD26 pitot attached (loosely, right now) on the inboard side of the rib, inboard of the outboard access plate. The joggled end of the Gretz backing plate goes inside the spar flange, and I’m concerned I’ll run into a conundrum between getting access to rivet the aft section and enough flex to put the Gretz backing plate inside the spar flange.
Any suggestions would be appreciated!

I did this on my 7A to access a pitot in the “wrong” compartment. Made an access panel.

Why not just cleco this in after you’ve done the spar and worked down the ribs?

I’m about to do this exact step - one bottom skin is done (the one without the gretz doubler) and my plan is to just cleco this doubler in place when I clecod the forward part of the skin down. Should easily be able to reach it through the adjacent access panel hole to reach the rivets on the doubler.

I was initially thinking of backriveting the doubler to the skin first, but then realised I would never be able to flex it into position.

Mine is basically in the same location as yours.

No issues getting to those 14 rivets through the access hole. Just did it last fall. Compared to the chewing on tinfoil you go through to get to the aft skin rivets, easy peasy. Just cleco the backing plate into place when you cleco the rest of the forward half of the skin, as Trent mentioned. Do a good job deburring the 4 larger holes before dimpling. I pull a rolled wad of scotch brite back and forth through the larger holes after deburring. Cracked a dimple early in the build. It’s the shipping that gets ya on those skins!

I have installed three of these and did not have any issue with the access to buck the rivets.
