Control stick interconnect bearing installation

I’m working on the control stick interconnect for my 14 and finding it very difficult to install the bearings into the ends. Im only able to get a couple of turns by hand before the bearing thread binds. When I use a bearing install tool the torque required to screw it in is very high. My question is the hole and thread deliberately undercut or should I run a 1/4-28 tap down it?

Watching Vic’s recent webcast and his comments about locknuts and control bearing has got me wondering.

Thanks

I would run a tap through it then and clean out the threads vs forcing things. Make sure you have not damaged the rod end bearing threads before trying to reinsert them.

Thanks Chris, I only turned the bearing several times before I backed off. I ran the tap down the hole and bearing now fits perfectly.
