What did you do with your RV this weekend? (1/23/21 - 1/24/21)

Pulled my right tank to repair the c***py build-job done in the Philippines by the Vans contractor building the QB tanks.

Ugh. That sucks!

No RV’ing for me. In Hawaii with the work airplane...

FFI practice out of KLHM - Lincoln. Two flights. First - two ships. Second - three ships. Turned out to be fantastic weather.

Fly-in breakfast

I flew to Somerset, KY for Dicey Aviation’s fly-in breakfast with a stop at Glasgow, KY for a quick visit with Justin Richardson. Charlie Rosenzweig stopped by with his Honda powered RV6A.

First Flight!

N072TP had its first flight on Saturday. Constructed 2/19 - 1/21. Quickbuild wings and fuselage. The plane performed flawlessly. Ball was 1/4 width out of center to the right. Only 39.4 hours left in Phase I!

Flew around Pikes Peak

We were headed to Buena Vista, but it was getting choppy, so we diverted down to 1V6 (Freemony County). Here is a photo of the backside of Pikes Peak.

Good thing we went Friday, today it was socked in all day.

Blue skies.

I also flew into KSME for breakfast. I flew with a group of 4 aircraft from the Knoxville area. Took me nearly an hour to get there and a half hour back due to winds. I am actually in one of your pictures walking over to get another load of pancakes. They have a really nice terminal.

Knoxville Downtown

Butch (RV6A) and I took advantage of the beautiful weather and made our way up to KDKX. This our 3rd attempt in the past 2 months. Turbulence made us change destinations on previous 2 attempts. Had a great burger at Stock & Barrel. Butch getting used to his new Whirlwind Prop.

On Friday, flew to Gadsden AL to pick up plane from Evoke Aviation after paint. Weather in San Antonio was too bad to make it home Saturday. Flew part way home to Talulah LA and stayed across Mississippi in Vicksburg. Sunday weather at home was worse (200ft and 1/2 mile vis). So, visited civil war battleground park. Very interesting! Ate great food and watched some movies. Made it home Monday battling a 52kt headwind!

productive weekend!

1) Solved the EGT problem with a little help.

2) Got power connection rigged up for battery so I can plug in an external power supply to the airplane without draining the battery.

3) Got closer to final plan for panel upgrade

2nd condition inspection. It was an expensive one.
Had to replace a broken adel clamp on the exhaust hanger. That would have been a $500 hit in the certified world.
