Linkage for aft throttle?

I have the rear throttle from AS and I'm considering the installation. It mostly looks straightforward. My concern is that something behind me while solo may impede the throttle movement and I want the front throttle to be primary if push comes to shove.

Did anyone look to less robust linkage components for the rear throttle, so they could be overridden (broken if necessary) to allow the front linkage to continue functioning?

I used the standard Van’s rear throttle kit, but modify the handle. I cut it down so it is just a straight lever that is fulling inside the side ribs. I did not like the handle sticking out where something could get caught on it. The shorter length also provides mechanical advantage for the pilot if the rear seat guy/gal does something stupid.

This has worked well over the years.
