What did you do with your RV this weekend 2/18/22-2/20/22

Overnight temps around 2*F after 8-10” of snow, 4-wheeled to the airport after the mid shift and found the “ways” plowed. Yes!!! Plugged in the airplane and went to sleep for a couple hours, Vlad/Alex/Pete I know there’s no real sympathy comparison but there’s days….
Semi Lil’ Dude and I prepped the airplane and taxiway for our warm (cowling only) airplane. A steeper climb than normal made our lower headwinds quite a nice tailwind at 11,500.
Working on a furnace issue and and a boat interior issue that would’ve been 10+ hours round trip instead of 2.
Honestly more excited about splashing the oil around in the RV more than anything.

Pics I forgot to include

Indeed, very nice and shinny !!!
Can you tell what product and polisher you are using???
I'm seriously considering polishing the 8...

Ha - Andy, it's all relative to what you are used to! This winter seems to be pretty tenacious, with sub-zero temperatures hanging around MN at least through the end of February.

Standard Nuvite process, looks much better in pics and from 30’ as it hasn’t seen a buffer for a couple years.

Arizona flying weekend

Roy and I kicked off the weekend on Friday with a flight to Yuma for BBQ Ribs. The MillionAire FBO cafeteria grills their own fall off the bone tender ribs, with potato salad and baked beans on Friday. MillionAire gives visiting pilots a dollar coupon, which along with the ramp fee, buys a plate of ribs.

No trip to Yuma would be complete without borrowing the courtesy car and driving to Martha’s Date Farm for a Date milkshake and stocking up on some dates.

This helicopter, one of a pair, landed shortly before we taxied to the fuel pump. We have it on good authority that it is a Bulgarian Mi-35. We also enjoyed watching F-35’s make low passes and vertical landings.

On our way back to Yuma, Snake Eyes gave us permission to fly VFR at our discretion back to P01 (Eric Marcus Muni, Ajo), because the restricted area was cold and would remain so until Tuesday. Yay! No flying max 500 AGL up the highway to get to where-ever we want to go!
So, the next morning, Saturday, flew to Payson for breakfast.

Arizona Weekend Flying Continued

We flew over PHX airspace at 9500ft on our way to Payson. Wow, Phoenix is huge and spread out.
Note about breakfast, the food is great, and the biscuits are as big as my whole hand. It is also impossible to leave there without a fresh-baked pie.

More Arizona and future pilot

This Cessna at the fuel pump in Gila Bend was on the way to the Buckeye Fly-In. This young pilot is 5-years old. His Dad takes him in the plane every chance he gets. (Wonder if he’ll meet Lil’Dude at flight school one day?)

Whatever shall we do for fun NEXT weekend?

I flew my 14-A from L.A. up to Northern California to visit with my wife who is up there taking care of her sister who had a bad fall. On the way back I flew down the Sierra foothills and saw first hand how low the reservoirs are. This is just north of Yosemite.

Took in the Copperstate EAA Fly-In at Buckeye airport. There were some really nice RVs there, which matched the friendliness of their owners!

Edit… Because I was inverted! No idea why the web site flipped my photo.

Thanks for the write up Capt Sandy! I just ordered 5 lbs. of dates from Martha's because of your post! If I wasn't so far away, I would just fly to Yuma and get them myself. I like to order specialty foods from various places. I order maple syrup from Minnesota, Canada, and Vermont, cherries and cherry products from Door County, WI and Michigan, etc. Fortunately, I don't have to fly too far for peaches!

Lil’ Dude would absolutely Love a copilot, all too often it’s just grown ups. I do recall Guy brought his lil dude to the RV social to play with Weston several years back.
My fingers are crossed the RV15 is very similar to the C180ish in the pic, not sure it’ll happen this year but would love to head west for some more AZ flying!

Jerry, When we are in Tennessee I will gladly accept some peaches and will return a peach pie or peach jam in return.

VA-FL-VA

Yesterday we returned from visiting friends in Boca Grande, FL. We had flown down to Venice FL since Coral Creek wants big $$$$ just to land. And I do mean BIG $$$. :)

On the return trip, we stopped at my favorite pit stop location, Baxley GA (KBHC). The amenities there (which include first-come, first served hotel rooms!) are incredible. We were greeted by two great airport dogs. :)

First Flight KFFA

Took my oldest daughter to where it all began and did the lighthouse tour down the OBX.

You have to come to Georgia though! :) I'm based at FFC, about 30 miles south of Atlanta. We can fly directly to the peach farm, GA81. It's similar to Martha's, peach and pecan orchards, restaurant, and gift shop. The peach ice cream and peach cobbler is da bomb!
