Engine Pickle Question

Hi Group

Finished my Fuselage a week or so ago. Finishing kit is due in June. I was pre-reading the finishing instructions and there are a couple notes about easier install if you have the engine kit and the avionics kit already.

Also with the logistics delays and time to get kits, I am contemplating ordering the avionics and engine this week and hopefully they arrive shortly after the finishing kit.

Since I’m building in Florida I am concerned about the engine sitting to long without being pickled. Van’s said it doesn’t come pickled.

Does anyone have a pickleing info for the Rotax and what it involves?

Thank you in advance
Rob

Bore and cylinders are silica aluminum. Also the engine is closed crankcase sealed, only venting would be through the sump tank.

If Rotax thought pickling was necessary, it was done at the factory before shipment, as these engines ship world wide, probably on a boat across plenty of salt aired seas.

Maybe ask on the Rotax forums?

Suggest you check ROTAX storage info at: Rotax-owner.com
