RV-10 Cabin Sound 82 Decibels

If you ever wondered how loud it is in the cockpit during level cruise, here you go. Roughly 82 dB. See the chart for relative comparisons.

Sound levels

share what you have installed for sound insulation,
I don’t recall my db but I sprayed a rubber fluid and think it my noise sounds pretty low.
I’ll check next time I fly to give a different perspective. I’ll also look up the depth, think it was 1/8 think lizard skin sound insulation.

Congrats on picking up the AOPA sweeps 10. Saw it on the ramp at Oshkosh

I pulled out the apple watch soundmeter in a 1968 C182 the other day and was reading 95dB at cruise. Since decibal is a log scale, roughly 2-2.5x as loud. Pretty impressive.

Would probably be better if the 182 door seals worked but that's why I'm building the RV-10....
