Hold Down Nuts

For narrow deck engines with the internal wrenching nuts do you use safety wire after torquing or not?

My overhaul manual for the O-360 says (On removal) If cylinder base hold down nuts are lockwired, remove. Neither pal-nuts nor lockwire are currently employed. Then says nothing about it during reassembly.

What is the reasoning for not wiring them?
 
Safety

Lycoming does not use any form of safety on the cylinder hold down nuts or connecting rod bolts. Star type lock washers on many other locations, safety wire in a couple of locations.
