fuel senders

Gents,
Can someone tell me how to tell what kind of fuel senders are in my 9A's tanks?
I have had a vans fuel gage quit, and I am not the original builder, and unfortunately he has passed away, so I cant ask him.

Fuel senders

If you remove the wing to fuselage fairing and look in front of the spar there might be a Stewart Warner Resistive type sender , its about 2" in diameter with 5 screws around the perimeter and a screw terminal in the center with 1 wire .
If it doesn't look like that you might have capacitive type senders .

If it is a Van's brand fuel gauge it has to be a resistive sender.

But before you go through the process of replacing it, be sure it is not the gauge itself that is bad.....
