Slick application literature shows:

O-320-E2D (25°,150HP) left mag model #: 4371 right mag: 4370; 4371

So this means the right mag can be either model 4370 or 4371?

So I can have two 4371's on my engine?

I was assuming the 4371 had the impulse coupler for starting?

So with two 4371 I would have better starting due to both magnetos firing to start the engine?

please educate me.

No problem at all having 2 impulse mags. I had this setup on my O-320-E3D, converted to 175 hp. If you use a standard key mag switch, you will want to remove the wire that grounds the right mag during start.

Yes, to all your assumptions. If you proceed with an impulse on the right mag, you would also have to modify the connections on your ignition switch to allow the right mag to fire when in the start position. Currently the right mag gets grounded when the switch is in the start position by a jumper wire.
Good Luck,

Sure, the majority on VAF don’t pay the small fee to keep it up and running. You asked a question, you received 2 answers pretty quick, both correct, same.

Cheap $$$ for great help… from A&Ps
