Update! We won the fly-in raffle! Hotel, dinner, rental car. Nice effort by the community to welcome aviation. If you get a chance, stop by and visit. The Big Lake is close to the field!

We found ourselves with a free Saturday and nothing for lunch, so climbed in the RV, and went looking for fun! We are a few weeks from peak leaf color here in Minne, but over in the UP of Michigan, the colors are poppin'!

Ontonagon, MI had it's 2nd Annual Fall Colors Fly-in and Lunch today, so we headed over - it's about 1.5 hrs by RV to a Nice little strip right on Lake Superior.

How it began...... Ready on 9er at Anoka County.....

After the rain, came the colors............. Pics are looking north out over Lake Superior - there is a low layer of gloom that starts right on the shore.

We picked up an angry stowaway on the way home. I was able to neutralize him before any damage was done, it does get your attention, tho!

The ride home was smooth and quiet with a nice tailwind. We met some very nice people and enjoyed a great $5 Sloppy Joe lunch. It's on the calendar for next year!

Colors!!

Sweet! That's a sight for sore eyes for a westerner.. thx.

(i was wondering about the stow-away until I saw the caption...nice work, you didn't even leave a smear.)

PeteMan I confess. After seeing your pix yesterday I checked the weather and decided to beat you on time airborne. Looking for colors of course. I didn't have a free Sunday (need to cover couple hours for someone) and I had a lunch precooked already :D

Here what I found in Idaho and Wyoming. No comparison to New England or your territory but nevertheless...

Oxygen is on and up I go to the limits of VFR airspace. Jackson Hole is soaked.

Near homebase a huge anvil was growing. Big Boys asked to divert. I made it with 3.5 on the Hobbs :D
