Dimple where there shouldn’t be

Ok I dimpled the #6 screw hole for a nutplate on the upper rear bulkhead where I was apparently supposed to have only dimpled the #40 holes on either side. Since this will just be used for the trim attach screws will I be good to leave as is? The skin for the associated hole isn’t dimpled while the screw hole is located.

Sometimes you can use a K1100-6 in this case but I doubt very much it will work here. The VS fits pretty snug in there, that’s why those two nut plates take the shorter AN526C632R4. My opinion is to Flatten the dimples with your squeezer and stick with the k1000 nutplates and ensure you use the shorter 1/4” long screws there.

You can get away with flattening - have had to resort to it once or twice over the builds...:D

Be really careful flattening a #6 screw hole though. I had to do that on an access cover and got noticeable cracking around the circumference. Maybe try a test piece first to gauge the proper flattening technique.

Thank you!

I was able to sufficiently flatten the dimple and install the appropriate nutplate.

Thank you to everyone for the direction!!

When you get to section 12, there is a discrepancy. On page 12-11 step 6 it says to dimple for a #6 screw, the upper aft most hole in the VS for the emp gap cover. Next page says to c/s the same two holes, one on either side. In this case, I chose to dimple and change the nutplate to a K1100. Always a good idea to read the whole section before starting. I hate counter sinking skins.

another plug for using the WIKI (link in signature)

That issue on 12-11 step 6 has ben noted for quite some time already. this way you don't have to hope on someone telling you about it.
