Oil pressure switch?

My older RV10 has a GRT engine monitor system feeding the AFS screens. The oil pressure sender(VDO) is on the manifold and also has a 15psi switch on the oil pressure port.

Question is does either the GRT or the AFS need to see an oil pressure switch for the tach or anything else?

I think the switch may have been for an old traditional Hobbs meter in an older panel config.

Thoughts?

I have the same configuration. Oil pressure transducer connects to the EIS. Oil pressure switch drives an instrument panel lamp. Low tech. If everything else fails I'm left with my ears to set RPM and that one light to tell me the prop is about to stop, whether I like it or not!:D

You guys nailed it. It’s for a dash light that you can’t read unless illuminated.

Thanks
