GARMIN MAGNETOMETER GMU11 LOCATION REVISITED

Can anyone verify that placing GMU11 behind the baggage compartment in RV10 passes the "test"?

If so, did you actually run the test Garmin outlines and passed?

Lots of discussion here regrading wingtip location but since Van has a specific bracket for GMU11 that goes behind the baggage compartment, I thought I asked.

Mine is just ahead of the first bulkhead behind the baggage wall, near the top skin. Mine passed the test and performs well. I did use scat type hose with plastic support instead of metal for the O/H vent feed. It was routed close to the magnetometer.

Mine was the 22, not the 11.

GMU11 just under the upper skin, second bulkhead behind the baggage bulkhead.

Passed the Garmin test, no issues in over 100 hrs of flight

What are the pros/cons for installing in Wingtip vs behind baggage?
I have seen many installation in the wingtip

Either seems to work fine.

I chose the baggage to get it installed and wired early and avoid the long wire run out into the wing. I also have LED strobes, autopilot servos and an antenna in the wings that I felt were just as likely to cause issues as the stuff in the tail cone. I also wanted to keep the CAN wire run as short as possible. It is a pretty long loop to go out to the wing tip and back with the CAN daisy chain.
