Anti-Collision Beacon
I was recently made aware that my RV-4 is not night-legal. The plane has the position lights/wingtip strobes that are enclosed in the wingtip. The taillight has a Uavionix tailbeacon, so a white light, but no strobe. Since there is no strobe visible from the rear, I was told that makes the plane not legal for night ops. Makes sense.
So, now I'm considering adding top and bottom beacons. But I don't want some wart-looking thing sticking out from the fuselage. Any suggestions on faired, low-profile anti-collision beacons?
Thanks in advance.

Flyleds work great and are low profile.

SuzieQ has wingtip strobes that house both red/green nav lights and rear-facing white light. The are the old Welen with the power box up front (like that weight up front). I may change them out; I might keep them. There are a BUNCH of options out there and they are getting more streamlined. I would not have something on the fuselage as that would be.......um........ugly.......wart-looking.....

You would be better off to remove the TailBeacon and install an echoUAT and an aft strobe/position light.

Vic Syracuse suggested this. Certainly a good option...maybe
Don't know what all would be involved in wiring that up, getting a strobe wire/power run out to the tail. I'm not the builder, not sure how big of a job this would end up being.

I installed this strobe. Super bright and small. Winner.
Also. The faa isnt exactly banging down hangar doors looking. Some dude just bought two different airplanes and flew them for years with no license. Only caught him when he crashed straight into the ground.

Yep, that’s the one. Simple, cheap, quiet, small. I have one on the belly of my RV-8 and quite like it.
