How is your Lower Fairing attached to the Rudder?

Hey Guys,

I am in the process of putting this RV4 back together and I wanted to see how folks have attached their lower rudder fairing. It looks like this one was originally just slid over the top of the medal skin and blind riveted in. But I was hoping there is a nicer/clear way of doing this.

Thanks in advance,
D

You can use screws and nutplates, but blind rivets work fine.

On the -7, there are "bottom attach strips" riveted to the bottom of the rudder skin, extending the edge about 1/2". The rudder cap overlays the strip and is pull riveted to the strip. As I recall, there is also a spacer under the strip to space it back from the rudder surface to account for the thickness of the rudder cap ...

If you access to page DWG 7 for the RV-7 it's right there

Cheers
