Maybe a stupid question...

Hi all

Our small group are just looking at where to build the different sections and as nobody has the luxury of a space long enough for the full fuse (spinner to end of tailcone) - does anybody know how far the fuse can be progressed before it needs the tailcone attached ? E.g. Can the cabin, engine, prop and cowl be be built and attached to the fuse section with the tailcone and stabilisers not attached as they are being built elsewhere ?

Or is this a dumb idea and having the fuse and tailcone joined prior to fwf work key?

Many thanks, Andy

The tailcone needs to be installed before you can install the cabin top.

I submit that you'll spend more time working on the cabin area than the firewall forward area, so build the fuselage, including cabin top, and add the engine, cowl, etc. last in the building process. That will keep the entire project under cover for longer as long as you have the 17' or so space for the entire fuselage (minus engine).

Honestly, with a group working on the firewall forward portion, 3 or 4 builders, working together, could complete that portion of the build in a very few weeks.

Many thanks for the reply - I hoped the answer would be obvious !

From browsing here, based on others experience, looks like there is a lot of work in the cabin top, doors, windows, panel, seats etc whereas "just" bolting on the engine is somewhat more straightforward.

Plan coming together ... :)
