On June 19th, Hughes JURION has begun his world tour in an RV-8A taking of from Noum?a (New Caledonia, a French territory east of Australia).
He met RV world tourer Bill RANDOLPH during his stop in New Caledonia in 2005, helped him overcome some administrative hurdles, flew with him on the first hour of the outbound leg.
He then built his own RV-8A, F-PMHJ

You can follow his Spot beacon, or read his blog (in french).

Landed OSH

Hughes landed his RV-8 at KOSH yesterday afternoon, more than half of his round the world trip is behind him.
There is still a very big pond to cross before getting home in New Caledonia.

I would love to meet Hughes

Pascal,
Is Hughes flying an 8 or an8A?
Do you know where he is parked at OSH or can you give us his tail number (although there should not be many French registered AC there)
Thanks!

Tail number

Steve,
he is flying a RV-8A, tail number F-PMHJ.

Picture taken in Aberdeen, Scotland wearing cold water protective gear before the crossing to Iceland.

We saw his plane at Oshkosh today. My observant 11-year old said "hey, that's not an N number, it's an F number!" Yep, that brave soul flew all the way here from France. Amazing.

Where is he parked at OSH?

I finally made it to the show yesterday afternoon, but I could not find him. Any clues?
Thanks!

Lycoming stand!!!

I think his plane is at or near the Lycoming stand (I found a video on the Lycoming Facebook page and some pictures on Hughes Facebook page).
I'm sorry I don't know the Oshkosh layout.

As I understand, he is planning to leave today or tomorrow.

I looked for Hughes all day yesterday.

But never found him. I am sorry I missed him. I would love to link up with him sometime. If he has already flown the coop, then I wish him God's speed, clear skies, significant tail winds and friendly customs officials.
