Flew to the Big Easy for my wife and I’s 35th Anniversary. Love these time machines. Here’s a obligatory Hat sighting…

FINALLY had my biannual flight review.

It was due in February, but plan-A, B, C, D and E were all scrubbed due to the massive rains we've had on the east coast of Australia.

Plan-F was able to be squeezed in between the lifting of Saturday morning's fog and the arrival of Saturday afternoon's thunderstorms.

My last review ran out on Feb 28, so the 4 day period at the beginning of March was the first time in 22 years I haven't been able to legally fly an airplane.

It's raining again now.

Pics: some of the electrical utilities have been posting photos of objects they've been recovering from power lines as floods have been receding.

I live in inner-Sydney, which has only had minor flooding in small areas. Parts of Western Sydney have been hammered, but nothing like the northern part of the State. The town of Lismore looks like it's been completely wiped out. It might not ever recover, insurance companies have already said they're not interested in offering flood insurance anymore. https://9now.nine.com.au/a-current-...-chopper/55c963a0-bb34-4ae9-bd41-6c2dbefd5875 Lismore airport features at 3m15s in the video in the article. The scale of it is unbelievable, and there are a lot of people in the affected area who are feeling abandoned.

Shout out to the GA communities who have been flying weather-permitting volunteer relief missions all week. Bush pilots have been airlifting emergency supplies into outlying farms that are isolated by floodwater. There are a heap of helicopter owners who have been ferrying emergency workers to rooftops to rescue stranded residents. There are plenty of ways to donate, and it's surely needed, tens of thousands of people will have lost everything this week.

There's a weather warning for strong wind and severe rain along the entire coast of New South Wales up to about 100km inland tomorrow. It ain't over yet.

Wonderful week long trip concluded

My wife and I travelled from Calgary, AB to visit our son in SJC. On the way home stopped in at Folsom (O61) and Kelowna, BC (YLW) visiting family and friends. Entire trip was 2125NM and it is so nice to be making up for the last 2 yrs!

RV weekend?

Got to this point this weekend.
For prospective builders, when you read one line of instructions, this is what you may expect.
Instructions say:
"When drilling is complete, remove the skins. Debur the structure and skins, dimple as required, and cleco the rear fuselage back together."

This line is what I somewhat finished this weekend. I timed my progress while doing the above. 905 minutes give or take 10%. Not slow, not fast, halffast.

My dimple "table", and tailcone waiting on tailwheel hardware powdercoating.

Now I need to find a bucking partner.
