Empennage inventory question

Kit finally was delivered today. While doing inventory, I found two parts, E-903, that did not have any film on them and had numerous whole that were already dimpled. There was another part in that sub kit that also had some holes dimpled holes. Has anyone else encounters this or did I get a returned part?

Holes Already Dimpled

Yes, I too got some parts that had some of the holes already dimpled and I'm glad they were because these holes were in hard to reach tight places.

The factory will occasionally dimple holes that would be difficult or impossible to dimple after the part is formed. Another nice service provided by Van’s.

I asked Van's the same thing and they responded:

"First off these parts are not used, they are all this way. The bends you are noting have also been done intentionally as there are a number of components that interface in this area and the irregular flange has been designed into this rib to help created a smooth outer elevator surface.

The reason there is no blue vinyl on these parts is they are punched from soft aluminum and require a heat treating process after forming."

Fine and normal. I wish VANS would attach a note to those parts because this comes up often. It got me, too. They are pre-worked and heat treated. Elevator counterbalance arm parts....
