Crow Harness unboxing

Today UPS delivered the Crow Safety Gear harnesses for my RV-6A and here are some close-up photos and info. Hopefully this may help someone, as I wasn't able to find any detailed pics when I was researching what harnesses to buy. I'm happy with what I received, these look strong and functional, just like an RV.

Shipping took 1 week from Nevada to Western Australia via UPS, about $130, which is typical shipping cost these days.

Each harness weighs 4 lbs. The mounting point holes are 1/4" for the shoulders and waist and 5/16" for the crotch, so they should bolt in without any modification. The crotch strap belt loop measures 5/32" thick vs the gap in the mounting bracket per Vans drawing that specifies 3/32". I haven't fitted it yet and it may not be an issue since the loop may be able to go under the floor.

Safe flying!

Paul

I recently got a set for my -4, and I love ‘em! I got the cam buckle type though and padded shoulder straps, and I was lucky enough to be able to drive to their shop!

Very nice! I like the red fabric tab riveted to the release handle.

There is velcro on the underside of the red fabric tab, and velcro on the top of the seatbelt under the red fabrics tab. This minimizes the chance of inadvertently snagging and opening the latch release handle.

That makes sense and adds a bit more security. I'm not a fan of velcro but it seems like a good application for it here and the red fabric tab should fall back into place to cover the abrasive "hook side" of the velcro went not latched.

I made my own set of belts so they are exactly what I wanted but these Crow belts are impressive.

I have 2 sets of Crow harnesses and couldn't be happier. Great bang for the buck compared to Hooker.

I just got off the phone with Crow and the guy said that the ratchet-type belts wont fit in my RV4 and I'm having a really hard time understanding why not.

Is anyone here using a ratchet-type belt from Crow? I can't see why it won't "fit" b/c I know many are using the Hookers and those are ratcheting.
