Tail wheel tow dolly

g zero

Well Known Member
I use my Jeep to tow my plane to the Fuel Pump. I had a simple one that I lifted the tail to put it on, My back started not enjoying the process so I came up with this design. It plugs into the 12v outlet in the back of the Jeep , works off a Linear Actuator

Thanks for rotating the pics…….. how is that magic performed?

You're welcome. There's many ways but I typically save each image and open them (one at a time) in Irfanview, which is a free download.

From the "Image" dropdown menu, choose "Rotate Left" or "Rotate Right." When upright, save the image.

If for some reason your thumbnail displays upright but opens sideways when clicked-on, the same method will work. In this case, when you open the image in Irfanview, it might open upright. Just rotate the image sideways and then rotate it upright again and save the image. That will usually solve the problem.

I do this on a Windows PC but I don't see why Mac would be much different.

Great looking gizmo-----nice welds and assembly/paint etc.

Looks like a commercial product, not home built.

Do you drive with a spotter in your jeep? ... this gives me the heebies just thinking about it!

Very nice workmanship on your gadget.

As others have said, the welds look very nice. Also impressive is the design - not sure I've seen that way of lifting the wheel before. And the use of 12v from the trailer connector - very clever!

On any Mac laptop you "Right Click" on the picture and scroll down to "Quick Actions" and then click on "Rotate Left" until you get it how you want it. Works on videos too. It saves it correctly automatically.

Dan Horton has probably built 3 by now since he saw the pics. :D

It’s a pleasure to see such fine craftsmanship.
